(As I typed that and tried to frame a question , I heard a car drive by with what sounded like its muffler dragging on the road and I realized the answer : why don’t more of these classic cars show up at shows? Because people didn’t take care of them in the first place, and by 1970 they were just tired old cars, not yet classics.)

To be fair, it’s hard to take care of a car that wants to rust itself back to it’s base elements every time you look away.
